GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT
Dear Brother Knights,
I hope all of you are having the spiritual Lent that you are seeking.  Easter is almost here and it is a reminder that
the sacrifice of Jesus ensures that we have eternal life and love.
A special thanks to Del Ridder for organizing the Mass for the Unborn on Saturday, 3-25-06, and to Steve Smith
for acolyting, and George Oberempt for lecturing.  Also, thanks to Dave Densler for organizing the Friday rosaries
and to all who actively participated in them.
Please join me in congratulating the three new Brother Knights to our Council:  Steve Smith – 1st Degree; Steve
Bieber – 3rd Degree; and Bruce Alt – 1st Degree.  These are good Catholic men of our Parish and will be great
assets to our Council.  Please introduce yourself to them and get to know them at any future Council function.  Also,
please congratulate Duane Dolezal for attaining his 2nd and 3rd Degree on March 12th at the exemplification in
Wahoo.
Our Spring Pancake Feed is on Sunday, April 23, 2006.  We will have 3 shifts again, so please try to help out.
See the Work Assignments to the right of this column.   Also, our Parish Tootsie Roll Drive will be April 8 & 9 after all
Masses.  Please sign up at the April 5 meeting or call Bob Kelty @ 467-3298 to volunteer.
May this Easter Season be a blessing to you and your families, and may you find peace, love, and forgiveness to
heal the old wounds of sin and bring you closer to God.
-Fraternally in Christ,  Grand Knight, Tom Albin

FAMILY    of   the   MONTH   for   APRIL
The  JIM WILKERSON  Family
The Family of the Month for April is the Jim Wilkerson Family.  Jim is a charter member of our Council.  Jim and his
wife, Kathy, have been married for 23 years.  They have 3 children: Josh, a student @ Morningside College in Sioux
City, IA;  Zack, attends Iowa State University; and Danielle, a 6th grader @ St. Patrick’s Catholic School.   Josh and
Zack both also attended St. Patrick’s and are Pius Graduates. If you have attended our St. Patrick’s Festival, you
have likely run into Jim & Kathy and have enjoyed the fruits of their labor. They have been chairpersons for the
Festival for 13 very successful years.   Together they have  donated countless hours to our Parish, our School, and
to the numerous extracurricular activities connected to both.
Jim has served on our Parish Council for 5 years, acting as President for 1 year.  In 1993, he chaired the St. Patrick’
s Church Centennial Committee.  He is an active member in St. Pat’s Men’s Club, volunteered time to coach Youth
Sports activities for St. Patrick’s School Teams, and ran the Bar for the S.T.A.R.S. event for the last 2 years.
Currently, Jim is on the Committee for our New Church building.
Kathy has been the Assistant Food Service Provider for St. Patrick's hot lunch program for 6 years.  She has served
the Home and School Association, has been our School’s Youth Sports Athletic Director, has volunteered time on
the Parish Council, worked as Supply Chairperson for the Pius High School Concessions/Booster Club,  served on
the Building Committee for our Gymnasium, is an active member of the Altar Society (serving as President for 4
years and Vice-President for 2 years), and currently coordinates scheduling of Parish and Community activities held
in the Gymnasium.  Kathy helps to keep our Church beautiful by helping with Seasonal decorating, Altar Flowers,
and the Easter Lilies.  The time and effort this family dedicates to making St. Patrick’s a better place is greatly
appreciated.  It is a pleasure to acknowledge all their hard work.  Thanks so much, Jim and Kathy, for all you
do!                     -Terry Ryan, Family Director
EDITOR’S NOTE:  The Jim Petrzilka Family was erroneously listed in last month’s newsletter as the February “Family
of the Month”.  Jim’s Family is actually our March, 2006, “Family of the Month”

WOULD ABRAHAM LINCOLN
HAVE BEEN A KNIGHT ???
If we were asked, “Who is history’s most famous Knight?”, most of us would probably guess former President John F
Kennedy.  Okay… here’s another JFK question, “What is the most eerie similarity between former President John F
Kennedy and former President Abraham Lincoln?”.  Would it be that they both fought for civil rights or that their
wives lost children while living in the White House…or …
